Wanda

Can you believe how adorable this baby girl is? Her name is Wanda and she just turned twelve years old a few days ago. Poor Wanda found herself in need of a new home when her original owner was diagnosed with Alzheimers and couldn’t properly care for her anymore. Her and her prior owner made the long flight from Washington State to North Carolina in hopes that with the help of a relative they could remain together. Unfortunately as the owners condition progressed he was starting to confuse the dogs meds with his meds and his grandson that he moved here to live with began to be concerned for Wanda’s well being and convinced his grandfather that her going to rescue was in her best interest.

Since coming into rescue we have taken her to the vet and verified that she is heartworm negative and got her an overall general exam. The vet said she needs eye drops which she is on. Due to her age he highly recommended that the be on a hip/joint supplement. She was already on a supplement so she will remain on that and it is expected that an applicant do the same. She also came into rescue on Apoquel for skin issues. Since her skin has been good we are leaving her on this medication. It may be something she can be backed off of but we cannot guarantee that so an adopter needs to plan on it.

Wanda is current on vaccines, housebroken, and she is microchipped and has had a dental in the last year.
