Update 4/30/19: Charlie has been handling the slow kill heartworm method very well. He is spending his days lounging around with lots of naps!
Shhhh…….don’t tell Charlie he isn’t a pug! Charlie is a 13 year old Boston Terrier that was turned into a shelter when his owner passed away. Unfortunately Charlie is heartworm positive, has some mast cell tumors, and a grade five heart murmur. The vet doesn’t feel that Charlie can handle the injections for the heartworm treatment so they are using another method to try and kill the heartworms. Due the the extreme heart murmur and heartworms the vet does not want to do surgery for the mast cell tumors so we are trying to shrink them as much as possible. At this time the plan is for Charlie to remain in PPR’s care for the rest of his days. He is very comfortable in his foster home and is doing well with his treatments so far.
Any donations towards Charlie’s care would be greatly appreciated and please keep him and his foster mom in your thoughts.
